Until recently, veterans benefits were counted as income for purposes of the Means Test. The Means Test determines if you qualify for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy or you have too much income so you need to pay back some or all of your debt. Finally the Government realized that treating disabled Veterans worse than people on Social Security Disability was not right. Now your Veterans disability income will not count towards the Means Test. This is a bid deal, because some Vet’s still have the ability to work which would have put a Chapter 7 out of reach.
