If you have ever been garnished you know that garnishments stop after 91 days, and you generally get a reprieve of a couple of weeks or a month before the new garnishment takes effect. Thanks to the pro-collection forces in the State Legislature the law has been changed and so have the Court Rules. Effective immediately, garnishments stay in place for 182 days before a new garnishment needs to be issued. Keep in mind, that money garnished within 90 days of your Bankruptcy Filing may be recoverable. The new State Court rules do not affect Federal Bankruptcy Law.
